Origin

Why we built anza30.

Through Kinnek, Built in Europe, and our own networks, we kept finding ourselves close to ambitious founders building across Spain and the US.

We were seeing strong companies early. We were sharing feedback, making introductions, and helping where our experience or network could be useful. Over time, we saw that this could actually make a difference.

But individually, we could not access, evaluate, or invest in every strong deal we were seeing.

So we built anza30: a way to invest together in the opportunities already around us.

anza30 is not a fund where people just wire money and wait. Every partner is expected to bring something to the table: capital, dealflow, and relevant experience.

The goal is simple: back great founders, create upside together, and build a serious community of founders and investors from our generation.

Anza was the first Spaniard to arrive in San Francisco.

Now we are 30 partners on the journey.

How anza30 Works

Common questions about how we source, evaluate, invest, and operate together.

Each partner is expected to bring high-quality dealflow. When a partner introduces a startup, they sponsor the opportunity and complete a standard investment memo (pitch deck, founder call, demo day, Q&A) for the other partners to review.

Once a startup is sponsored, the other 29 partners are expected to do their homework: review the memo, challenge assumptions, add context when relevant, and vote - all through the integrated Notion dashboard. Voting is expected, though not mandatory. Non-votes do not count in the final score.

When anza30 invests, all partners participate through the vehicle on the same terms. If the vote passes, everyone is in, including partners who voted no or did not vote.

Everything will be managed through Notion or equivalent software, with a WhatsApp group for adhoc communications. The goal is to keep decisions organized while building a close community of partners.

anza30 will keep a central dashboard for partners, with at least quarterly updates covering the status of investments, estimated valuations, cash position, upcoming decisions, and relevant updates.

anza30 is constituted as a Spanish Sociedad Limitada (SL) under Spanish corporate law. It is not a regulated investment fund, not an IIC, and is not subject to CNMV authorisation or supervision.

  • Invests exclusively partners' own capital, no public fundraising or third-party asset management
  • All partners are named socios (shareholders), no anonymous capital

The fund is built around 30 Voting Units at €20,000 each. Units are the fundamental atom of governance and economics.

  • One full unit (€20,000) = one independent vote on all investment decisions
  • No single partner may hold 10%+ of the capital, directly or indirectly

Capital is not called all at once. The vehicle operates on a capital call model across an 18-month target deployment window. Partners do not need all committed capital ready on day one.

  • First capital call: 20% of committed capital, €4k per full unit, at closing. The remaining capital is called progressively as investment decisions are approved by partner vote.

Yes. Partners can still write personal checks into startups they particularly like outside of anza30.

Every partner has a voice. Decisions follow a structured majority framework designed for deliberate, not reactive, deployment.

  • New investments: 66% supermajority of votes cast required
  • Portfolio exits: simple majority (50%+1) of votes cast
  • Corporate decisions & structural changes: 66%-75% depending on the matter
  • Quorum: at least 50% of all Voting Units must cast a vote for any result to be valid; Silence = abstention
  • Votes are anonymous to other partners, but internally traceable by founding partners for compliance purposes

There is a 0% management fee and 0% carry. Admin and legal costs are shared by partners and kept as low as possible (roughly 0.4%/year).

The default is not to do follow-on investments unless partners agree there is an exceptional reason. anza30 aims to sell when a strong liquidity opportunity appears. The 7-year exit horizon is a target, not a fixed date.

The structure is optimised for cross-border Spain x USA investors under Spanish corporate law.

  • 20% Spanish corporate tax applies only on profits
  • Distributions made pro-rata to all partners post-exit and post-tax
  • Admin roles are unpaid

Strategy

How we invest.

The model we're pursuing is timely, tested, and, with the right partners, time and capital efficient.

01

The Opportunity

We are entering one of the most important windows for early-stage investing.

PIPELINE

Talent-First Dealflow

Our founding partners are already seeing and backing top early-stage startups with strong momentum. We put individual talent first because extraordinary founders are what make early investments work.

ACCESS

The Power of 30 Networks

The best dealflow is relationship-driven. By bringing together 30 exceptional founders and investors connected across Spain and San Francisco, anza30 sees more opportunities than any one partner could alone.

VALUE

More Than Capital

Founders get more than a check. They get access to partners who can share perspective, make introductions, and help when their experience is relevant.

02

Investment Thesis

We put founders at the center of every investment: backing exceptional people early, in a focused portfolio, with active partner support.

Opportunity Profile

  • Cross-border arbitrage: Spain × USA/EU corridor - cost in one market, scale in the other
  • Verified demand: revenue already coming in, or a top co-investor on board
  • Big enough market: top founders with the right network can capture meaningful returns

Founder Qualities

  • Grit and ambition to build something significant
  • High agency - they make things happen, without permission
  • International exposure or clear cross-border ambition
  • A rare blend: technical depth and commercial instinct
  • Founders we know, or vouched for through our network

Portfolio Shape & Pace

  • 8–15 diversified bets, each gets real attention
  • Early stage, where capital has the highest upside and founders have the biggest impact
  • Target 18-month deployment cycle, 7-year target exit horizon
  • No follow-ons unless partners agree there is an exceptional reason
  • We aim to sell when a strong liquidity opportunity appears

How We Work with Founders

  • Sounding board with deep expertise in the founder's target markets
  • At least one formal advisory session per quarter - no board seat needed
  • Light governance. Transparent reporting: what is working, what is not, what we are doing about it

03

The Vehicle Edge

A group of committed founders, operators, and investors can see more, evaluate better, and support founders more effectively.
